Membership and Development Coordinator

The Mimms Museum of Technology and Art is seeking a proactive and mission-driven Membership and Development Coordinator to lead the museum’s membership program and contribute to its fundraising goals through effective grant research, writing, and reporting. This position plays a vital role in building relationships with members, donors, and institutional funders, while supporting the long-term financial sustainability of the museum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for individual and corporate member acquisitions, retention, and upgrades to meet or exceed annual revenue goals
  • Create content and manage communications for membership-related emails, newsletters, promotional materials, social media, and the museum website
  • Oversee design and production of printed membership materials (e.g., brochures, membership cards, appeal inserts) in-house or with external vendors
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute member-exclusive events and experiences
  • Serve as the point of contact for corporate member events included as a corporate membership benefit
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on promotions, campaigns, partnerships, and appeals
  • Partner with Visitor Services to support front-line customer service and on-site membership sales efforts
  • Assist in setting annual revenue and expense budgets; monitor progress and make data-informed recommendations
  • Generate and analyze reports to evaluate the effectiveness of membership offerings, retention strategies, and audience engagement
  • Research, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources in alignment with the museum’s mission and programmatic priorities
  • Develop and manage a grants calendar to track proposal deadlines, reporting requirements, and stewardship activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather project information, budgets, and evaluation data for grant applications and reports
  • Monitor and report on the progress of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and timely submission of all deliverables
  • Assist in identifying and cultivating new funding opportunities to support exhibitions, educational programming, and institutional growth
  • Maintain accurate records of grant activity and donor correspondence within the CRM system
  • Support donor communications and assist with cultivation and stewardship efforts as needed
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to identify high-impact events for museum representation and outreach; attend targeted events to raise awareness and cultivate relationships that support membership growth

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Museum Studies, English, Communications, or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in membership, grant writing, or development roles, ideally within a member-based or nonprofit organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience creating marketing content and promotional materials
  • Demonstrated success in writing awarded grant proposals and reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Neon CRM or similar membership/fundraising databases preferred
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments, while also working independently
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Reliable transportation required

Preferred:

  • Experience in planning and executing member-focused events
  • Familiarity with museum operations, programs, and exhibitions

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of a criminal and credit background check
  • Drug screening required upon job offer

Physical Demands

  • Moderate physical activity, including lifting objects up to 25 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or using a computer
