BYTE Recap

BYTE26 was an elegant and celebratory evening that brought guests together for a first-time look at iNSPIRE: 50 Years of Innovation from Apple while celebrating several of the company’s early innovators.

During the program, Executive Director Rena Youngblood inducted Gil Amelio and Randy Wigginton into the Mimms Museum of Technology and Art Hall of Fame. Gil Amelio served as CEO of Apple Inc. in 1996 and led the acquisition of NeXT, Inc. which brought Steve Jobs back to Apple. The NeXT operating system became the basis of macOS X. Randy Wigginton, known as “Employee #6” at Apple, played a critical role in developing software for the Apple II and later contributed to early Macintosh applications, helping shape the user experience of personal computing.

The preview of the iNSPIRE exhibition served as a focal point for the evening, reinforcing the emphasis on the people, ideas, and collaborative energy that grew Apple. Together, the events of the evening captured a spirit of celebration and continuity, honoring past achievements while fostering support for future innovation. BYTE26 complemented the preview of iNSPIRE and also reinforced the enduring legacy of creativity, collaboration, and vision at the heart of Apple’s story.
